What we’re going to talk about now is research and product research and basically what you need to do in order to ensure success with your own project.

We’ve already started looking at competition but I use the exact same resources for research as well. They provide a comprehensive look at the resources available on the market, plus the viability of success in producing them.

Here they are again. The resources are Amazon.com for books, Dummies.com for books and video training and stuff, I research Google a lot. I don’t necessarily just do research of the organic results. I look through the first three or four pages of ads on the right hand column and also along the top there in the yellow. I do keyword research using Market Samurai and the Google keyword research tool. Pay per click ads and Clickbank products. I scour Clickbank products quite a bit.

So basically all I’m looking for is different places in the market that I can go, so different varied products. Maybe you’re doing a diet offer and what are some of the different things you can hit within your own market or within your own book. I usually research by buying two or three of the books or a couple of the video products or whatever, and just watching them, taking them in and seeing where some of them lack, where they do a lot with, some of the cool features and stuff that they have that maybe you can integrate into your own product.

What happens is with social media and some of the different marketing methods that we’re going to be talking about later after the product gets built, what happens is you go above and beyond the call of duty for our products. Then people are going to talk about it. People that buy both of them are going to talk about it. They’re going to do product reviews. They’re going to share your stuff on Facebook and Twitter. That’s really where the research comes in. Anybody can create a subpar product or even a regular on par product. But you want to really look at the market as a whole and say, “What do I need to do to just crush it? How do I just over deliver on the product in general just to make people buzz about it? Are there some YouTube videos I can throw in? Is it maybe a DVD that I can bundle together?” Or maybe you do a video course and you send them a book in the mail just as an unannounced bonus.

These are the sorts of things that I look at when I do research in a market, is how are some of the other big guys doing it? What are they doing differently that is separating them from the rest of the market? A lot of times it’s really just very simple, little tweaks that you can emulate and really get some pretty amazing paydays from.

Up next what we’re going to do is we’re going to talk about presence and what you can do to really have a very commanding presence online and how you build that out, whether you have a presence now or whether you don’t. It really doesn’t matter one way or the other, but we’re going to show you how to put a very strong brand presence together.
